READY OR NOT HERE WE COME!!

Hello ladies,

It's almost time!!! Wow!!! Can't believe it! The closer it gets the more emotional I seem to get! So happy you guys are joining my amazing sister and I on this challenge in honor of our Sweet ANGEL Des! I know we are all going to give it our all just like she did when she was fighting to live! She has inspired me and many others with her unbelievable determination and strength. So in honor and memory of DESY....LETS DO THIS THING!!! Here is my packing list if needed. I'm mainly posting it, because it has become a tradition.

Before packing list I'll post the plan:

Marnie, if you would like to meet us at the store or have us pick you up on the way just call me at 801-706-6162. Then we will meet at Lori's sister's house at 4:30pm for a yummy spaghetti dinner. Here is her address: 3500 E. Red Oak Lane Gilbert, AZ 85297. If you get lost call Lori (928)240-0293. Then Wickenburg here we come! We hope to get to the hotel at a descent time. Our start time is at 9am Fri morning. We need to be at the start line an hour early.

So exited! Can't wait to see you all! Here is my packing list:

Lori will bring team shirts for both daytime runs
1 pair of running pants

It's Time For A Quote!

I came across this quote today and thought of all you amazing ladies that will be running the Del Sol Ultra in memory of Desmon.

Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired. When you were younger the mind could make you dance all night, and the body was never tired...You've always got to make the mind take over and keep going.

George S. Patton, U.S. Army General and 1912 Olympian

What an amazing example Desmon was of making her mind run her body. I think the video of her in the hospital going threw chemo, hooked up to machines and tubes and still DANCING, says it all. I'm so excited for you all to run this race and accomplish such an amazing goal! Go get 'em ladies!!

Training? :)

So I would love to know what all of you are doing to train for the ultra. I have to admit that it scares me a little but that I love a challenge! I am currently running 40-50 miles a week and plan to do 3 runs within a 30 hour period starting the beginning of February. I hope to do this once a week until the race. So 3 times. I really want to throw in some yoga, do you have any suggestions for some good yoga DVD's? I am trying my best to stay injury free while still getting my mileage up. I would love to hear any of your ideas!!!
So excited :)
